Grows Up is an online marketplace that showcases and sells unique, high-quality baby and kids’ goods – directly from the designers to you. Our boutiques are carefully selected from smaller production line manufacturers to give shoppers the best variety of original clothing, toys, books and goods for their children and themselves. Grows Up was founded by a team of women whose careers have been dedicated to Internet e-commerce and community building with major companies including Netscape, Sega and Skype.
We like to think of everyone who is involved in Grows Up as family. It certainly feels that way with all the hours we spend together! Here is a little background info on the people that make things happen around our offices and in the playground.
Stephanie Robesky – CEO / Founder
Stephanie is like the mad scientist of Grows Up with plans to take over the world. But they are plans for good, as opposed to evil. She is best known in the office for running around like a chicken with her head cut off, while babbling excitedly about Moms being #1, amazing design, customer service and all the things that Grows Up values.
Prior to founding Grows Up, Stephanie displayed an early entrepreneurial drive by setting up a lemonade stand on her parent’s chicken ranch. Unfortunately, the nearest neighbor for 5 miles was her generous grandmother, so she didn’t make much money on her first endeavor. Alas, she was not deterred and when she finally moved to a big city, she started working at Netscape as a code-monkey and spent time at various startups and big companies, including PeoplePC, Vendio and Sega. She eventually moved to Europe and plunged head first into a communication revolution at Skype. Stephanie most recently spent time with Atomico (the people who fund Internet companies) working with everyone’s favorite entrepreneurs turned VC’s, Niklas Zennstrõm and Janus Friis, who we like to think of as the Godfathers of Grows Up.
When Stephanie isn’t thinking of new and exciting ideas for Grows Up, she spends her time trying to rank the world’s best restaurants, taking pictures of fishies underwater, playing backgammon on her Austin Power’s board (she insists on being Dr. Evil) and enjoying the occasional glass of old world vino. She is also a blogger and prefers to go by the moniker @nerdgirl (you have to say the AT) when you tweet at her.
